You’re baby is your world and you don’t want them to be in pain. Torticollis, or favoring the head to one side, is often the result of how your baby was positioned in the womb. The good news is torticollis can be remediated with positioning, pain-free stretches, and purposeful play activities.

What is Torticollis?

Torticollis can affect more than just your baby’s neck—it can influence how they eat, move, and play.

Torticollis, a condition caused by tight or imbalanced neck muscles, is more than just a head tilt.  When a baby consistently turns their head to one side or tilts it in one direction, it can lead to asymmetries in head shape, limited neck mobility, and affect how they eat, move and interact with the world around them. It can lead to a flat spot on the head, difficulty with feeding, and delays in reaching motor milestones like rolling, sitting, and crawling.  Torticollis can have lasting impacts on vision, eye-hand coordination and academic skills such as reading.  Left untreated, these challenges can impact your child’s development for years to come.

At bwellbaby, we understand that torticollis affects the whole baby—not just their neck. That’s why we take a full-body, occupation-based approach to treatment.

A Unique, Gentle Approach That Works

Our approach is different—and intentionally so. Our sessions are play-based and personalized to your baby’s unique needs, focusing not only on improving neck range of motion and head shape but also on laying the foundation for better feeding, movement, and overall development.  As a pediatric occupational therapist and infant feeding specialist, I treat torticollis through:

  • A nose-to-toes evaluation that looks at your baby’s posture, movement, muscle tone, and feeding patterns

  • Pain-free, no-tears therapy—we never recommend stretches that make your baby cry

  • Play- and routine-based strategies designed to fit seamlessly into your daily life

  • Occupation-based care, meaning we focus on what your baby needs to do each day: feeding, tummy time, bonding, moving, and playing

Through gentle movement, hands-on support, and meaningful activities, we help your baby build strength, improve head and body alignment, and meet developmental milestones with confidence.

Early Action Leads to Better Outcomes

The earlier you begin therapy, the easier it is to correct torticollis and prevent future delays. By addressing the full body and integrating strategies into your real-life routines, we help your baby make fast, lasting progress—without stress or overwhelm. The sooner therapy begins, the faster your baby will improve.

Nicole was so wonderful with our baby boy. At 4 months, he was falling behind on some milestones and hated tummy time. She worked with him to release tension in his neck/back and gave exercises that helped him love tummy time ! He just turned 7 months and he is already crawling, I know it’s only possible because of the work Nicole did with him. We loved her coming to our house to work with our baby!
